The Market is Open and Bursting at the Seams with Fresh Items!


After a week off, thanks to some extra hot Alpine weather, we are back and fully stocked with fresh, new items just for you!  Our Farmers are excited to share their newest crops and we are happy to announce we have some new additions to the Market.  Come out and see what’s new today!

We missed you all last week and we know you missed our vendors too!  We are excited to have a full Market today consisting of all of your favorite vendors including Campo Creek Farms, Rideout Bistro Oils, Sunshine Hoops, Craig Hobbs Honey, Awesome Hot Sauce and some NEW ADDITIONS.  Check out Kalura Garden and BECyn Designs as you shop through the Market for your FRESH FROM THE FARM produce!

Remember to bring an ice chest in your car or on wheels so you can enjoy a nice dinner made fresh for you right at the market.  Also, keep in mind that MORE PARKING is always available in the First Baptist Church parking lot across from the Alpine Farmers Market.

The Fresh Market Recipe of the Week is…

“Watermelon Basil Agua Fresca”

As we enjoy what’s left of our beautiful summer weather, watermelons have arrived at the Alpine Farmers Market.  So, what better way to savor the final tastes of summer then with a delicious, refreshing watermelon basil cooler?  We have to thank for this amazing recipe…find the original recipe HERE.

What You Will Need and Where to Find it:
This Recipe Serves 2
  • 4 cups watermelon, cubed (Sage Mountain Farms)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 15 basil leaves or lemon basil (Rancho Chico or Sage Mountain)
  • 1/2 cup water, room temperature
  • 1 lime, juiced (Atkins Nursery)

“Place the watermelon, sugar, and 2 to 3 ice cubes in a blender. Purée until smooth. Strain the watermelon through fine-mesh strainer or cheese cloth and discard the pulp.

In a glass pitcher, combine the water, lime juice, and basil leaves. Muddle the basil against the sides of the pitcher with a spoon. Pour the watermelon into the pitcher, stir, and serve over ice. Garnish with lime and basil. (The basil garnish is the cherry on top—every sip buries your nose in the fragrant leaves.)

This keeps well in the refrigerator for a few days.”

Keep in Mind…

  • “If you love basil, add more leaves!
  • The ague fresca will separate if stored in the refrigerator. Simply stir and garnish with fresh lime.”
